Brazil stocks lower at close of trade; Bovespa down 0.84% By Investing.com
Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the fell 0.84% to hit a new 3-months low.
The best performers of the session on the were Companhia Brasileira De Distribuica (BVMF:), which rose 15.61% or 0.37 points to trade at 2.74 at the close. Meanwhile, Minerva SA/Brazil (BVMF:) added 5.58% or 0.32 points to end at 6.05 and Brava Energia SA (BVMF:) was up 5.21% or 1.05 points to 21.19 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Grupo Vamos SA (BVMF:), which fell 8.45% or 0.46 points to trade at 4.95 at the close. Sendas Distribuidora SA (BVMF:) declined 6.09% or 0.35 points to end at 5.40 and Magazine Luiza SA (BVMF:) was down 5.37% or 0.44 points to 7.76.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the B3 Stock Exchange by 557 to 389 and 60 ended unchanged.
Shares in Grupo Vamos SA (BVMF:) fell to all time lows; falling 8.45% or 0.46 to 4.95. Shares in Sendas Distribuidora SA (BVMF:) fell to all time lows; losing 6.09% or 0.35 to 5.40.
The , which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 1.43% to 33.96.
Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.23% or 6.23 to $2,669.57 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 1.60% or 1.14 to hit $70.15 a barrel, while the March US coffee C contract rose 1.73% or 5.52 to trade at $325.02 .
USD/BRL was up 1.74% to 6.15, while EUR/BRL rose 2.75% to 6.46.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.11% at 106.57.
